Welcome to RE at Hyde Technology School Religious Education at Hyde Technology School is taught according to the Tameside Agreed Syllabus. Religious Education is not designed to convert pupils to a particular religion or belief. It involves learning about religious beliefs and practices and their influences on lifestyles. It allows pupils to learn how to think and talk about their own beliefs and values and analyse and evaluate the responses of other people to important moral issues with a religious dimension. Religious Education can help to dispel prejudice based upon ignorance and can help pupils understand, appreciate and respect the beliefs and customs of others. It has much to contribute in the preparation of pupils for responsible citizenship in a multi faith society. The Religious Education department has two full time specialist teachers, access to a Humanities computer suite and a wide range of teaching resources from text books, DVDs and artifacts. Religious Education is compulsory for all pupils in Key Stage 3 & 4. All pupils within KS4 from Sept 2009 will follow the WJEC Short Course in Religious Studies. This is accepted by all FE institutions as well as offering essential life skills for any occupation If you require further information please do not hesitate to email: Mrs. Davis at school |
