Welcome to English at Hyde Technology School

We are a lively and exciting department and we're sure you'll enjoy your lessons with us

We have six full time members of staff as well as an Assistant Head who teaches with us, an EAL partnership teacher and a bi-lingual assistant. All English staff are specialist English teachers and work hard with students to ensure everyone reaches their full potential

As well as being specialists, many of our teachers are also Leading Literacy Teachers within Tameside authority. This means that we are always at the forefront of the new developments in English and Literacy

Many of us have also worked as examiners for the GCSE English or English Language paper. This gives us insight into the demands of GCSE English & English Literature

All classes are taught in sets, and in Year 7 the sets are arranged according to Key Stage 2 data and baseline tests carried out at the beginning of Year 7

We have a dedicated ICT suite within the department . There are also Interactive whiteboards in all of the English classrooms together with a wide range of interactive software designed to make English dynamic and fun!
