The Alpha Centre is the support centre for students with literacy and behavioural problems. The staff in the Centre work very closely with parents. We recognise that most students at sometime or other have some form of special needs. Most students get over their difficulties quite quickly but for others the effects last longer.

Early identification is necessary and close liaison with Primary colleagues ensures continuity and target setting and individual education plans are set in place.

Students with identified needs are placed on a list as“ School Action”, “School Action Plus”, or “Statemented”.

Wherever possible our policy is inclusion with differentiated work and the students supported in the classroom.

Along side this there may be a one to one session or small literacy group sessions to address specific learning difficulties, or behavioural and organisational type problems.
The school Learning Mentors work with the S.E.N. governor, parents and governing bodies.
