GCSE Geography
At GCSE we follow the OCR (Syllabus C) course. In this Geography course candidates study people, places and themes, through an issues based enquiry approach. The specification content is presented in the form of questions for enquiry linked to themes and sub-themes, which cover all the content areas central to modern geography, with an emphasis on decision making and problem solving. This makes it relevant, stimulating and interesting. It offers many opportunities to develop ICT and all aspects of the Key Skills.
The five themes of the course are:
-
Physical Systems and Environments;
- Natural Hazards and People;
- Economic Systems and Development;
- Population and Settlement;
- Sustainable Development.
The course is assessed through 3 separate elements:
-Decision Making Exercise 30%
-Examination 50%
-Coursework 20%
