Here is a view of English from Year 7 student Rachel.

Dear Reader,

I’m Rachel and I am here to tell you what learning English in year 7 is like. We cover lots of topics and are rewarded for our hard work.

The topics we study are great fun to do. Subjects like story writing and drama. We learn all about genres which is just different stories. We also studied advertisement jingles and made some of our own! In poetry we focus on important things such as similes and metaphors.

At the beginning of each lesson we do something called a starter activity. This is something to do with the lesson and gets us used to the work. We have something called a learning intention and success criteria. The L I is what we learn in a lesson. The SC is what we achieve in a lesson.

We also get rewards for good work like, for example, housepoints! Housepoints are what you collect for your house. Also we have certificates. The teacher will put good work on a display board to show it off

Recently we have done about poetry. We did our own and read some fantastic ones written by great poets! We did some music presentations!

So that’s it. That’s our English lesson at H.T.S. and what happens, I’m sure you’ll agree H.T.S. is the best!!!!!!!

Hope to see you soon

*bye*

Rachel. Year 7.
