Business Studies Trips and Activities
As our subject is a vocational subject we place great importance on the values of real life study in a stimulating environment.
Our students are involved and encouraged to take part in many trips, the main one being New York which we visit every February half term.
Students spend 5 days in the Big Apple studying this fantastic city. Students are set assignments prior to the trip and attend 2 seminars whilst in the city. Obviously there is plenty of leisure time to see the famous sights of New York City.
Trips are subsidised through Increased Flexibility Funding to ensure all students are not priced out of this fantastic opportunity.
Other trips include Manchester Airport and Alton Towers.
The department is also involved in the National Share Competition in which students invest ‘real money’ on the Stock Exchange and monitor their gains and losses.
We are excited about a new qualification which comes on line next year – we are introducing an AS Level in Financial Studies which is taught and examined online. Students will therefore get the chance to gain an Advanced level qualification before they leave Hyde Technology School – this is a first in Tameside!!
